FAQ

We listed our most frequently asked questions immediately below for your convenience. Please, also review the remainder of our FAQ section for further information on a wide range of topics.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH SIZE CLOGS OR WOODEN CLOG BOOTS TO PURCHASE??

Sizing can, and most likely will, vary between different styles, i.e. a pair of high heel clogs vs. low heel clogs, or a clog boot vs. clog sandals. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the size guide (picture below) before you make your purchase in order to select the correct size. This size guide is available on each product page in our catalogs.

Please note: Our sizing may not compare to other clog brands on the market.

As you are viewing either our clogs, wooden clog boots and shearling clog boots you will find our size guide (see screen shot below).

Where to find sizing guide2

Once you are established in the correct sizing guide, please follow the sizing guide steps to determine a perfect fit.

If you remain unsure of your size, please feel free to contact Customer Service via live chat or at info@sandgrensclogs.com or by calling us at 1-800-245-0187.

We are happy to recommend a size for your purchase. However, please note that we cannot guarantee that the clogs will fit due to the uniqueness of customer’s feet. The decision is ultimately the customer’s and Sandgrens is not responsible for any return shipping cost.

WHEN WILL MY ORDER SHIP??

Once your order has been confirmed, it will be processed and shipped within 1-5 business days. Shipping time varies based on available clog and clog boot inventory in the United States and Sweden. If your purchase is available in our US inventory it will generally ship within 1-2 business days. If your clog boots or clogs purchase is in our Swedish inventory it will generally ship within 3-5 business days.

Note: Tracking information may take an additional day to be updated. Please check your spam folder if you haven’t received the shipping confirmation.

Please also note: Purchasing an item assumes that you agree with our terms of purchase.

WHICH LEATHERS DO YOU USE FOR YOUR CLOGS AND HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF THEM??

At Sandgrens Clogs we carefully select all of our wooden clog materials by hand, and we use only the finest leathers to craft our authentic Swedish clogs and clog boots. We have divided our leathers into three categories to make it easy for our customers to understand the differences.

Different types of leather have a distinct look and feel, which gives each of them a unique texture and color:

Vegetable Tan Leather Wood Clogs Products
Vegetable tan leather is made in a natural process, which uses tree bark, vegetables and fruits during tanning and does not contain any chrome. Vegetable tan leather has a distinctive texture and a delicate high-fashion look and feel. At first, the leather feels stiff but continues to soften with regular wear. Vegetable tan leather in the Nude color will darken after exposure to sunlight for a few hours. As it becomes darker it becomes more resilient but still remains sensitive. Do not use any cleaning or leather care products on your Nude clogs or nude clog boots vegetable tan leather. It could stain and damage the leather. Colored (other than Nude) vegetable tan leathers clogs can be polished with traditional shoe polish or cleaned with any common shoe cleaner. Use a damp rug to clean the Nude colored leather.

Nubuck Leather
 Wooden Clogs Products
Nubuck leather is an oiled snuffed suede but its texture is much more smooth and it has a slight knap. The oiling process is what gives the nubuck its characteristic look and feel. Similar to suede, nubuck leather has a distinct texture. It is soft, supple and velvety to the touch. A variety of leather care products can be used to treat and preserve nubuck leather. Our nubuck leather clogs and clogs boots have already been oiled so you should not need to add additional oil in the near future, but use of water repellants and other treatments will help to preserve the material. To care for your nubuck clogs and nubuck clog boots, brush them with a stiff clean brush.

Shearling (Sheepskin)
Clogs and Sheepskin Clog Boots Products
Shearling is a type of sheepskin with a smooth suede surface (with a slight knap) on one side and a soft pelt on the other. The inside pelt will keep your feet warm in cold weather conditions, while the suede conveys a fashionable look. Shearling runs a bit thinner than regular leather so this is why we cannot use it for the entire vamp area of our wooden clog boots with shearling. You can treat shearling the same way as you treat the nubuck leather.

HOW DO I EXCHANGE MY SWEDISH CLOGS OR WOOD CLOG BOOTS FOR A SIMILAR ITEM OR A DIFFERENT SIZE OR COLOR??

If your pair of Sandgrens clogs or clog boots don’t fit or you have changed your mind on the color, we are happy to exchange them for the appropriate size or desired color. This policy does not apply to Black Friday products, Closeout specials or other sale promotions.

The customer is responsible for the return shipping on any exchanges or returns. Sandgrens will cover the shipping cost back to the customer for the first replacement up to 30 days after order confirmation.

You must place your Sandgrens clogs exchange request within 30 days of the order confirmation date.

Once we have received the exchange we’ll process it within 1-2 business days and thereafter the new pair will be shipped within 1-5 business days.

Notes:

  • You may ship your clogs back to us via the service of your choice.
  • The returned clogs or clog boots must not have been worn in ANY outside environment and must be in new, re-sale condition.
  • Do not wear or expose clogs or clog boots to any liquids unless you are certain that you are keeping them.
  • Fill out the Sandgrens clogs exchange form, following all Exchange form instructions and include the properly filled out exchange form along with your clogs that are being exchanged.
  • Please pack your clogs carefully in the original clog shoes box. If you do not have your original shoebox saved, please use a somewhat similar-sized and sturdy carton.
  • Do not squeeze your wood clogs or wooden clog boots into a carton that is too small as this can damage to wood clog platform or crush the leather.

Please read the packaging instructions thoroughly:
1. Wrap the clogs/boots appropriately; you may use the wrapping paper that the clogs/boots arrived in. If you need to use additional wrapping to protect your items you can use other wrapping paper such as paper towels. Never use newspapers, it will leave marks on
the leather!

2. A good way to further enhance the protection of the clogs/boots is to add wrapping in the bottom of the shoebox and at the top over the clogs before sealing the shoebox.

3. Put the wrapped clogs/boots and the return and exchange form in the box. Make sure you use appropriate tape when sealing the shoebox. Tape all closures and edges that can be opened.

NOTE! Damaged clogs and clog boots during shipping due to improper packaging cannot be accepted for returns.

FITTING

MY HEEL “SLIPS” WHEN I WALK. IS THIS NORMAL??

Yes, clogs are designed with this in mind. This is perfectly normal for everything from our clog sandals, high heel clogs and wooden clog boots.

HOW ARE CLOGS SUPPOSED TO FIT??

Clogs and clog boots are designed to allow your heel to “slip” when you walk, even if you have a closed back clog or boot. It generally takes a couple of weeks to get used to your new clog shoes and the leather to adjust to your feet.

Please note if this is your first pair of wood clogs:
We recommend wearing either clogs or clog boots inside your home for no more than a couple of hours a day for the first week, and half a day for the next week so that your feet and clog shoes will adjust to each other. Give your clog shoes some time.

SHOULD I STRETCH MY CLOGS TO GET A WIDER FIT??

Sandgrens Clogs never recommends stretching your clogs.

SHIPPING

Standard couriers are FedEx and USPS and it may take up to one day for your tracking information to be sent once shipped.

DO YOU SHIP CLOG SHOES AND CLOG BOOTS OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES??

Yes! We ship to nearly all countries worldwide. Shipping time is estimated to be about 4-7 business days for international orders. It may vary depending upon which country you are shipping to.

For example: Orders to Canada and Western Europe are generally around 4-5 business days and Australia closer to 7 business days.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO SHIP MY WOODEN CLOGS ORDER??

The shipping cost is free for delivery addresses within the United States and Sweden. All other International delivery destinations are charged $24.99 per pair to ship. Processing time is generally no more than 1-5 business days, however; shipping dates may vary based on inventory availability, weekends and holidays. All U.S., Swedish and International customers are responsible for the shipping costs to return or exchange the clogs. Please refer to our ‘Exchanges and Returns Policies’ for more information.

Yes, the same rates apply to all of our products!

CAN I SHIP MY ONLINE CLOGS ORDER TO AN ADDRESS OTHER THAN MY OWN??

Yes! At check-out, please make sure to differentiate between ‘shipping address’ and ‘billing address.” If your purchase is a gift for someone please let us know in the notes section available at checkout.

ARE THERE CUSTOMS OR DUTIES FOR YOUR SWEDISH CLOGS, WOODEN CLOG BOOTS AND SHEEPSKIN CLOG BOOTS??

You may be liable for additional customs and duties charges for clogs based on your local government laws. Normally these are considered “clog shoes” or “footwear” for import purposes but some countries have specific rules for wooden shoes or “wood clogs.”

There are no customs and duties charges included in the original purchase price or shipping cost and Sandgrens Clogs is not liable for any charges that may be assessed.

Your items may be sent from Sweden or the United States but Sandgrens Clogs generally ships orders to our European and international customers from our Swedish inventory to avoid duty.   In most cases you will not be subject to duty if you are ordering clogs, boots or sheepskin clog products from Europe.

Although we would be glad to advise you on customs and duty, each country’s laws are specific so we have limited ability to know with certainty what customs and/or duty will apply to your specific clog shoes order. However, we would be happy to assist as best we can. Please feel free to contact us!

WHAT IF MY CLOGS ARE LOST DURING SHIPPING??

As soon as we have sent your order we are no longer liable. Although rare, USPS and FedEx misplace a package for a period of time or lose them altogether.

We suggest that you contact the courier and file a claim if your package shows delivered but you have not received it.

We are happy to help if this happens but would like to point out that it may take us a bit longer to handle than you would be able to do on your own.

THE CLOGS DO NOT FIT RIGHT. WHAT CAN I DO??

We only use 100% leather. There are no textiles glued on the back, nor any synthetic leather is used.

Therefore, some leathers, like the vegetable tan leather, need to experience a bit of wear before it softens and takes its final shape.

If the size seems to be right (length and width), start off by wearing your clogs at home a few times before making your final decision. Using a thick pair of socks may help ease your new clogs onto your feet.

Note: Do not wear or expose clogs to any liquids unless you are certain you are keeping your item.

If your clog or clog boot does not fit as desired we are happy to exchange it for the appropriate size. The returned item must not have been worn in ANY outside environment, and must be in a re-salable condition. You must place your exchange request within 30 days of order confirmation date.

Please pack your clogs carefully in the original carton. If you do not have your original carton saved, please use a somewhat similar-sized carton. Do not squeeze the item into a too small of a carton. The item must be returned in a re-salable condition.

Then ship the item back to Sandgrens. You can ship them back to either the United States or Sweden location.

The customer is responsible for the return shipping on any exchanges or returns. Sandgrens will cover the shipping cost back to the customer for the first replacement up to 30 days after order confirmation.

WHAT IF I’M NOT PLEASED WITH MY SELECTION? CAN I RETURN MY CLOGS OR CLOG BOOTS PURCHASE??

Although we rarely have quality defects they can happen. We accept exchanges and returns and/or grant full refunds on any products that have quality defects.

All of our clogs and boots are handmade and we only use natural materials. The handmade nature of our products, combined with our natural materials, create individual and unique clog shoes and wooden clog boots. Although nearly identical, no two pairs are exactly the same. Embrace the natural imperfections, as they are a sign of high quality handmade footwear made from renewable resources.

Product images are as accurate a representation as possible but each wooden clog base and each hide of leather used on our wooden shoes and wooden boots is unique. The leather may have small color variances or stretch marks and the wood clogs base may have natural differences of grains, etc.

Any returns that are not related to quality issues will only be accepted in an unworn condition and must be in new re-sale condition. We are happy to make exchanges between styles, sizes or colors.

Returns on unworn items will only be accepted up to 30 days after delivery confirmation (sale or clearance items do not qualify for this policy).

The customer is responsible for the return shipping on any exchanges or returns. Sandgrens will cover the shipping cost back to the customer for the first replacement up to 30 days after order confirmation.

Original shipping charges at the time of ordering are nonrefundable. You may ship the items back to Sandgrens Clogs via the service of your choice. Please remember that your clogs must be packed per the instructions on the Exchange and Return Form and we cannot accept returns on clogs or clog boots that have been damaged in transit.

Please also note that you have to include the Exchange and Return Form with any return.

As soon as your purchase arrives at our warehouse we will issue a refund within 1-2 days.

Note: Your bank or other payment issuer may need up to 5–7 business days for processing the refund and release of funds. We generally recommend waiting at least of week after shipping your clogs to our warehouse before verifying with your financial institution that your funds are available.

QUALITY AND CARE

WHERE ARE YOUR CLOGS AND BOOTS MADE??

All of our products are handmade in our factory in beautiful Påryd, Sweden. All of our wooden clog products have been made in this clog factory since it was built in 1965. To learn more about our factory and how your clogs were made, please see our video, about us section and our blog for further information.

WHICH LEATHERS DO YOU USE FOR YOUR CLOGS AND HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF THEM??

At Sandgrens Clogs we carefully select all of our wooden clog materials by hand, and we use only the finest leathers to craft our authentic Swedish clog shoes. We have divided our leathers into three categories to make it easy for our customers to understand the differences.

Different types of leather have a distinct look and feel, which gives each of them a unique texture and color:

Vegetable Tan Leather wood clogs products
Vegetable tan (veg tan) leather is made using tree bark, vegetables and fruit parts during the tanning process and doesn’t have any chrome. Vegetable tanned leather has a distinctive texture and a high-fashion presence. Initially, the leather may feel stiff but will soften with regular usage. Vegetable tan leather in our Nude color will darken after being exposed to sunlight for a few hours. As it darkens it becomes more resilient but still remains delicate. Do not use cleaning or leather protection products on your Nude clogs or nude clog boots vegetable tan leather.  Protectants can stain and damage your leather. Colors (other than Nude) in vegetable tan leathered clogs can be polished with regular shoe polish or cleaned with any regular shoe cleaner.

Nubuck Leather
wooden clogs products
Nubuck leather is a snuffed suede which is slightly oiled. Its texture is smooth but it has a slight knap. The oil gives our nubuck its distinct look. Like suede, nubuck leather has a unique texture,  Although it is much more soft and supple. Regular leather care products can be used to further preserve nubuck leather. Sandgrens nubuck leather clogs and clogs boots have oil added at the tannery so you shouldn’t need to add oil in the near future but use of water repellants helps with preservation. To take care of  your nubuck leather clogs and nubuck clog boots, brush them with a stiff clean brush.

Shearling (Sheepskin)
clogs and sheepskin clog boots products
Shearling is a sheepskin that has a smooth suede surface (containing a slight knap) on the visible side and a soft pelt on the other. The inside keeps your feet warm in cold weather conditions, while the outer provides a multi-use look. Generally shearling runs a bit thinner than regular leather so we don’t use it for the entire foot area of our wooden clog boots. You can preserve shearling the same manner as nubuck leather.

WHAT ARE MY SWEDISH CLOGS MADE OF??

We only use 100% leather on all of our wood clogs products. There are no textiles glued on the back, nor any synthetic leather is used in any of our clog products.

Our clogs bases are made of lime wood and Spanish pine that is specifically used for wood clogs.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY WOOD CLOG BASES??

A damp rag or sponge will generally take care of most staining but for heavy staining you may consider a fine sand paper. In either case we suggest starting in a small unnoticeable area first to make sure the cleaning is working as desired.

ARE MY CLOGS AND CLOG BOOTS WATERPROOF??

Our clog shoes and boots are generally water resistant but keep in mind that wood is a natural material and each of our leathers have different qualities.

We suggest treating the leather with water repellants as needed but do so in a small unnoticeable area first before treating all of the leather to ensure there is no discoloration. To care for nubuck, brush with a stiff clean brush.

Colored (other than Nude) vegetable tan leathers can be polished with traditional shoe polish or cleaned with any common shoe cleaner. To care for nude colored leather, please just wipe it of with a slightly damp rag.

MY CLOGS CHIPPED ON THE WOOD CLOG HEEL. WHAT CAN I DO??

Wood is a natural material that is subject to cracking when struck by hard objects. Care must be taken when walking in an urban environment or up and down stairs. If you hit the front of your clogs or boots into a street curb or staircase they may chip. Additionally, when walking down a street curb or stairs if you catch the very back portion of your wooden clogs or wooden clog boots THEY CAN CHIP. This is not a quality defect and Sandgrens Clogs cannot accept these on return as a quality defect. Please use caution and care with your wooden clog platforms.
